Hello, I'm Jennifer Hanke.
Informal and Formal Education
Throughout my working and academic career, I have had the opportunity to grow both formally and informally equally. Formally, I have learned how to create my own virtual classroom. This classroom will be used to further assist my students and parents with communicating once I am in the classroom. I have also had the opportunity to learn more expanded programming skills, which will allow me to create my own programs for use in the classroom. I have learned how to develop videos, manage photo sharing websites, and monitor online activity. These skills were all gained initially in the formal education and work setting but have been fine-tuned informally.
Informally, I visit different learning environments frequently. I was able to volunteer at Edgewater Public School, where I was able to demonstrate some of my classroom management theories that I have studied in the formal environment. I have also been able to work as an Educator at the Marine Science Center, which has allowed me to put all the theories and skills from the formal training into use in an informal learning environment. As shown above, I have created educational documents on my own using skills that were informally self-taught.
With over seven working years at a Fortune 500, multi-million-dollar public utility company, I have been able to use both formal and informal experiences to create a base on which my knowledge and skills have grown. I can use my interpersonal, problem-resolving skills to be successful in my future endeavors. I plan to benefit the local educational community by using the skills obtained in both my informal and formal past experiences.
